UPDATE: The author of the plugin has provided a way to make both plugins work together without changing the code (see the comments below). So you may just ignore my rambling below and go directly to my follow-up post that explains the exact procedure to make these plugins work together.
When I installed the CommentLuv plugin on my blog, I wanted to make sure I can handle the additional comment spam that this would certainly cause. So I set out to find a good antispam plugin and managed to find it in the free AntiSpam Bee (I won’t go much into detail as to why I don’t use Akismet, suffice it to say that it is not free and it is controversial in many ways).
I soon had to discover though, that AntiSpam Bee is conflicting with the CommentLuv plugin. After a bit of tinkering, I found out why this is the case and can now show you a quick hack to get both of these to work together. [Read more...]
I recently commented on a post at BuzzBlogger.com and came in contact with the plugin CommentLuv. I had read about it before, but this was the first time that I actually used it as a commenter. The experience was pretty good, that’s why I now have integrated both CommentLuv and KeywordLuv on my blog.
I am not a very emotional person. I don’t “listen to my gut“, I rather tend to over-analyze things and I base my decisions on intellectual reasoning.
As you can read this post, you might already have guessed that my WordPress server is up and running. What follows is a list of all the little steps I have taken so far to set up what is to become the hub of all of my internet business efforts.
Before truly embarking on this journey I’d like to dedicate my first post to identifying and describing my (current as of this writing) long-term goals and to jotting down some of the things I expect to happen in the following months or years. Each item on my list of expectations will be concluded by a piece of self-advice that might help me stay on course in the future.
CommentLuv & Antispam Bee working together
I have recently added the CommentLuv plugin to my site as reported here. I looked for a good antispam plugin as a companion, as the free ‘DoFollow‘ backlinks that CommentLuv enables are sure to attract spammers. I found Antispam Bee and was quite satisfied with its functionality. I had to discover though, that these plugins don’t work side by side straight out of the box.
When I posted a guide on how to change some javascript file inside of the CommentLuv plugin, the plugin’s author – Andrew Bailey – immediately posted a comment pointing me in the right direction; it is indeed possible to get these two plugins to work together without changing any source code.
